Chinese 2 for Schools – Lesson 11
We are… Revising and consolidating
In this animation, you are going to hear Jìng presenting herself and some members of her family. Listen to her – you can read the pinyin at the same time! – then answer each question on the sheet provided underneath the video, by selecting the correct answer.
Ready?
In this animation, you are going to hear a short conversation between Yàn and Jìng. Listen carefully – you can read the pinyin at the same time! – then answer each question on the sheet provided underneath the video.
Ready?
Download the “Mixed up sentences” document below: the conversation is completely mixed up!
See if you can create a dialogue between Xiù and Yàn, using the sentences provided. Be careful when you write the pinyin and make sure that all tone marks are present and correct!
In order to ask questions, you may use: Nǐ ne? as often as you like.
Then, with a partner, present your dialogue to the class.
You could use an app such as Texting Story to present your dialogue.
Why don’t you prepare your own set of mixed-up sentences, for another group to sort out as a dialogue?
Watch these short animations, in which 2 young Chinese artists present themselves: Lù Hán and Victoria Song Qian.
Lù Hán
Victoria Song Qian
Now your turn:
Using the 2 animations as models, you can choose a famous Chinese person and, pretending to be him or her, present yourself, with:
- Your name
- 3 other bits of information about yourself, including something you like.
- 2 members of your family (you can make it up, if you can’t find this information!)
You could use an app such as Chatterpix to present it to the class.
In the document below, can you find the relevant Chinese sentences to match the English ones? Be very careful when you copy the pinyin, including all the tonal marks!
Recycle your learning:
Speaking/Writing – In groups of 4, using the mini flashcards or cutting out illustrations from old magazines or newspapers, you can create a fictional family and present all the family members to the class.
Once you’ve managed all sections, you can start lesson 12!
